Tactical CommGear unveiled today its Tactical Talker, a universal radio handset that they say will replace almost any conventional handset used in the field by troops today, including the familiar H-250.

The handset is designed to be plugged into soldiers’ existing radios, has GPS, wireless and VOIP capabilities, and can transmit data, video and images, said Joe Paliotta, an engineering manager with the company. It weighs less than a pound, has two serial ports and an external plug-in for an ear piece, and can be folded and used as a speaker microphone, he said.
The product has been in the works for a year and a half, Paliotta said, and it is the company’s newest product.
