ANKARA, Turkey — Turkey's state-controlled military software concern Havelsan will acquire flight simulation assets of US-based Quantum3D, a developer of visual computing solutions, Turkish officials announced said.

Under the deal, likely to be finalized this year, Havelsan's US-based subsidiary will retain the intellectual property and product lines of Quantum3D. This It is the first time a Turkish defense company is acquiring a US firm.

Existing Quantum3D products will continue to be sold under the Quantum3D brand name as before.

"Our simulation and training business has the potential for significant growth, and Quantum3D's products are well known for realism and high performance. We believe that combining our strategies with Quantum3D products will create many new opportunities and allow us to develop Mantis (a Quantum3D product) to be the most innovative solution in the market," said Sadik Yamac, Havelsan's general manager.

"With these assets from Quantum3D we will not only enhance our core product capabilities worldwide, but will also better serve the large US domestic and other North/South/Central Americas markets for complete training solutions," said Yuksel Oztekin, Havelsan's board chairman.
