The government will not sign a much-awaited contract to purchase eight ELM-2084 multimission radars unless they are interoperable with NATO’s air defense system.
The country requires an additional three submarines to ensure Romania’s operational capacities in the Black Sea, as the one Kilo-class submarine does not meet that need, says a Navy official.
The announcement comes shortly after the Czech Republic canceled a contract under which the country’s defense industry giant Czechoslovak Group was to modernize the military’s DANA howitzers.
